Born Tracee Joy Siberstein, Tracee wanted to embrace the name of both her Jewish-American father, Robert Ellis, and her African-American mother, Diana Ross, so she changed her name.
With a theatre degree from Brown University, Tracee made her on screen debut in the 1996 film, Far Harbor. She is most known for her breakout role as attorney Joan Clayton on the CW hit, Girlfriends.
Interesting fact: in 2016, Tracee became the first African-American woman in 30 years to be nominated for the Best Actress Emmy Award, for her current role as Dr. Rainbow Johnson on the hit comedy series, Black-ish.
