A child prodigy, Yo-Yo ma is a Chinese American cellist who began performing at the tender age of 5. He was born in Paris to Chinese parents who moved the family to New York City when he was 7 years old.
As a teen, Yo-Yo ma studied at Julliard and would later graduate from Harvard University. Known for his vast repertoire, over the years he has performed with many of the world’s greatest orchestras.
His career trajectory includes over 90 albums and 18 Grammy awards.
Interesting fact: based on research done and the Ma family record preservation, Yo-Yo can trace his paternal ancestry back 18 generations, to the year 1217!
