Born in Bronx, NY to a Creole mother and Nigerian father, Kwame Onwuachi was virtually unknown until his appearance on Top Chef at age 25 and at the 2016 White House Easter Egg Roll. Prior to these feats, he followed in his mom's footsteps of owning and operating a catering company, by starting his own catering business at the age of 20 - funding his venture by selling candy on the subways of NYC. Kwame would then go on to study classical French cooking at A.O.S. Culinary arts and The Culinary Institute of America. With his hustle mentality and learning about different foods of the world through travel, Kwame is quickly ascending to the status of a star chef.
Interesting fact: at 10 years old, Kwame moved to Nigeria to live with his grandfather for 2 years, who was a former Howard University professor.
