Steve Aoki was born in Miami, Florida to a Japanese mother and father, but grew up in Newport Beach, California.

He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, graduating with two bachelor of arts degrees in feminist studies and sociology. While in college, he produced several records and put on concerts in his house. Soon he launched his own record label and gained even more notoriety from touring different colleges.

He now performs an average of 250 shows each year and has collaborated with some of the world’s most famous producers and vocalists such as Afrojack, LMFAO, Iggy Azalea, Lil Jon, and Laidback Luke.

Interesting fact: Steve's father, Rocky Aoki, was a wrestler and founder of the popular Japanese restaurant chain Benihana.
