At the age of 6, coming to America took a toll on Angelica's ability to identify where she belonged. Luckily, she grew to wholeheartedly believe that through education and perseverance, obtaining success was possible.

Angelica's family was very poor in the Dominican Republic, so although remembering where you come from is a part of life that many hold dear, she lost sight of this on several occasions. Crime ridden neighborhoods and difficult family situations presented hurdles that not all could overcome. Through all of this, her parents mustered up strength and resources to bring their 3 daughters to the U.S. in order to chase “The Dream.”

Soon she will be headed off to Spain to teach and explore a new world. Upon her return, she is looking forward to starting a master's program in nursing, with an ultimate career goal of becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

Angelica didn't think she'd make it or be good enough, but here she is - at a high point with no intention of stopping!
