Chiye 'Chi Chi' Nmorka

Nigerian-American

Founder + Editor-in-Chief, Defining Cultures

The daughter of parents who emigrated to the U.S. from Agbor in Delta State, Nigeria, Chi Chi's journey as a first-generation American has allowed her to experience the best of both worlds.

She embraces her cultural identity as a Nigerian-American with honor and believes that regardless of ethnicity, all first-generation Americans, immigrants, and people who are of mixed-race are bound by a common thread of the highs and lows of living between multiple cultures. So through Defining Cultures, her goal is to inspire others to dream big and know that there are different paths to success, proven by people who are living the American Dream. This ideology has placed her on a path to learn about new cultures, and has taken her to 30 countries across 5 continents and counting.

For the past 15 years, Chi Chi's professional career has lied in the intersection of strategy, digital marketing, program/project management, process optimization, and change management initiatives for large organizations and startups. She has lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, New York and Shanghai, China, and received her MBA degree from LIM College in New York City and Bachelor's in Psychology from Frostburg State University in Maryland.

Interesting fact: Although Chi Chi was primarily raised in the U.S., she lived in Enugu State (formerly Anambra State) and Delta State, Nigeria for nearly four years during her childhood.
